FAQ - Questions and answers that may help you:

  • Do you provide certified translations?

A certified translation is required for immigration, academic, or for legal purposes and courts. As I have decided to work in other fields, I do not provide certified translation.

  • How can I get a free quote for my translation needs?

Please, send me your document as a .docx or .xlsx file, etc. in an email attachment and indicate the desired delivery deadline. If you use any other file format, please let me know prior to sending the file.

  • Why do you request the original document before quoting?

In order to assess the technical nature of the document, the volume and required time frame, I always prefer to have a look into the document first.

  • How do you calculate translations?

Every translation project is different. The price calculation is based on the volume and complexity of the project, and on the required turn-around time.
I prefer to calculate translation fees on the basis of the source word count established in MS-WORD. This means, for pure translation work I charge a rate per source word from your original. The advantage of this calculation is obvious: you will know the exact price before you buy.
Sometimes, complex layouts of the original may require other work than pure translation. For example: processing text in graphics or Photoshop files. - This technical work is to be considered and may be charged extra as indicated in the quotation.

  • Are there any other charges involved?

The quote is absolutely free of charge and with no obligation.
Unless your project is assigned as quoted and agreed upon, no other charges do apply.

  • When will I receive my quotation and how do I place my order?

During the normal working hours you will recieve your quotation within a few hours. If you like what you see, I will send you an agreement (purchase order).

  • How do you deliver the translation?

Translations will be delivered according to your wishes and in the format agreed in the purchase order - normally in an email attachement.

  • What are your payment terms?

You will receive my invoice along with the completed translation. The invoice is due as agreed in the purchase order; normally within 10 days of date of invoice. I prefer national and international bank transfers (SEPA) as well as PayPal payments for non-European customers. All payment modes must be agreed upon in the purchase order.
